The right cuvette depends on your application:

  • Quartz cuvettes – UV-Vis spectroscopy (190–2500 nm)
  • Glass cuvettes – Visible range (340–2500 nm)
  • Plastic cuvettes – Disposable routine analysis
  • Fluorescence cuvettes – Fluorescence spectroscopy

Quartz cuvettes transmit ultraviolet and visible light, making them ideal for UV-Vis measurements. Glass cuvettes are suitable only for visible light applications and are generally more economical.

We engrave a number on each we manufacture. We call these numbers "Matching Numbers." The first letter represents the material. The first number ranges from 1 to 8 depending on the kind of cuvettes. The second number shows that the cuvette is covered by lid or stopper. The third and fourth number represents the pathlength. The last one is the inside width. However some special cuvettes have their special matching number. You can find the matching number you need from our product catalog.

Most of our cuvettes are designed to fit into a standard cell holder which is 12.5x12.5mm. It is the best to measure the cuvette holder in your machine and see what the dimensions are. We also have many different cuvettes available for you to choose. So if your holder is not standard one, you can contact us and we will be happy to assist you in choosing the correct cuvette for your instrument.

Proper cuvette cleaning is essential for accurate spectrophotometer and fluorometric analysis. Residue from previous samples can affect sensitivity, precision, and overall results.

Before cleaning, always check the cuvettes for cracks, chips, or scratches. Damaged cuvettes should be replaced to ensure reliable measurements.

General cleaning recommendations:

For aqueous samples such as proteins, DNA, biologics, salts, or basic solutions, rinse the cuvettes with warm water and neutral detergent, followed by a mild or strong acid rinse when needed, then rinse thoroughly with pure water.

For organic samples such as oils, alcohols, acidic, or basic solutions, rinse first with the same solvent used for the sample, then follow with detergent, mild acid rinse, and plenty of pure water if required.

Use deionized, distilled, or RO water and rinse at least 10 times to remove any remaining residue.

Important note:

We do not recommend using ultrasonic cleaning baths, as certain frequencies may cause cuvettes to break. Damage caused by ultrasonic cleaning is not covered by warranty.
